“No More Silence”

I stand here today because silence is no longer an option. Too many lives have been shattered. Too many dreams cut short. Too many voices hushed by fear, shame, or the belief that no one will listen.

Gender-based violence isn’t just a headline, a statistic, or a distant tragedy. It happens in our homes, our schools, our workplaces, our communities. It happens to people we know — to our sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, neighbors, and friends. And still, for far too long, the world has looked away.

But at Nigerian German Transformation Hub e.V., we refuse to look away. We refuse to accept a world where anyone is abused because of their gender. We refuse to let violence define a person’s future.

Gender-based violence is not culture. It is not tradition. It is not love. It is a violation — of rights, of dignity, and of humanity.

And so today, I speak for every survivor who has ever been told to keep quiet. For every child who has learned fear instead of safety. For every woman or man who has carried the weight of trauma alone. For every person who is still trying to find a way out.

You are not alone. We see you. We believe you. And we stand with you.

Ending gender-based violence begins with all of us — choosing respect, choosing empathy, choosing to intervene when silence is easier, choosing to believe survivors, and choosing a future where safety is a right, not a privilege.
